Seriously Funny
Director L. Madhavan’s debut film, Naalu Peru Naalu Vithama Pesuvanga, is about how even serious issues can be resolved in light-hearted manner. “Life throws up several challenges and some of them turn out to be insurmountable. Sometimes, in trying to solve these, we cause more problems to crop up. I have presented this idea in a humorous way, and you will find that the whole film is loaded with hilarious situations, even though the problems being talked about are serious,” says Madhavan. The film is planned for release in the first week of January, and stars Indrajith (the director’s brother) as the hero, and child-artist-turned-heroine Devika Madhavan (last seen in Valmiki).
Medical malpractice
In Saaindhaadu Saaindhaadu, the protagonist, played by Aathars, meets with an accident. While in the emergency room, the doctors realise that he is the most suitable patient for their illegal clinical trials. The story is about the nexus between such doctors in India and Malaysia. These doctors take advantage of patients and illegally test xperimental medicine on them. One of the main roles is played by a real doctor—Dr. S. M. Balaji, who is a plastic surgeon in real life. It is he who explains and exposes this issue in the film,” says director Ghazali. Anu Krishna is the heroine, while Manisha Kaur, a Malaysian Punjabi, plays a crucial role as the villain’s accomplice.
A taste for crime
Director Sam Anton, who directed G. V. Prakash Kumar in Darling, has cast him again in his forthcoming film, Production No. 4. “It’s a gangster film with plenty of comedy. As we’re trying to make a family film, there won’t be any blood or violence. G. V. Prakash plays an aspiring gangster, and the heroine, played by Aanandhi, is a gangster’s daughter,” says Sam Anton. G. V. Prakash will also compose music for the film.
