Kerala actors making hay in Telugu cinema
The huge import of actors and technicians from the neighbour state gives a fresh perspective to the Telugu film industry
The Telugu film industry has always been warm and welcoming towards actors from either Mumbai or Kerala. The artistes know that the stories made here seldom have substantial roles for a female actor, yet it is the huge market, big budget, the grandiose sets and foreign schedules and last but not the least the fat pay cheques and the pampering have attracted the artistes to Hyderabad.
Nayantara remains the numero uno and the longest staying actor from Kerala years after making her debut with a Rajinikant’s dubbed film. The successful running of Malayalam films in the city be it Bangalore Days or Premam has opened new vistas for Malayalees in particular. The Telugu film industry is deluged this season again with them.
Ananya had worked in Intinta Annamayya but the film never came out; She is back this time not as a lead actor but as Nithiin’s sister and Srinivasa Avasarala’s love interest in Trivikram directed A..Aaa. Anupama Parameswaran, the Premam girl is playing student in Yevado Okkadu in Ravi Teja-starrer to be directed by Venu Sree Ram. Namita Pramod makes her debut in Veerabhadram film that has Aadi Saikumar as the hero. Revathi is back as mother in Loafer.
Nayantara is acting in Maruti-Venkatesh film that goes to the sets in December. Nitya Menen is a familiar face. Keerti Suresh is making her debut opposite Naveen, senior actor Naresh’s son. Mohan Lal is making his debut in Chandrasekhar Yeleti’s trilingual to be produced by Sai Korrapati and Malavika Nair and Pearle Manney are acting in Nandini Reddy’s Kalyana Vaibhogame. Just not that, the art director and sound engineer and a few assistant directors are also Malayalees in Trivikram film A..Aaa. Trivikram who brought back actor Nadhiya in Attharintiki Daredhi has given her a prominent role again in his latest film with Nithiin.
Vishunu Govind and Shankar are the sound engineers for A..Aa and Majnu and Gopi Sunder and Rajesh Murugesan are the music composers for Majnu. All of them are from God’s own country. Prayaga Rose Martin made her debut albeit with a dubbed movie Pisasu, she is likely to take up straight Telugu films soon. Another actor whose entry is awaited is Manjima Mohan. She is working with Naga Chaitanya inSahasam Swasaga Sagipo, — a bi-lingual. Meera Nandhan’s Hitudu with Jagapati Babu is waiting for a release date and there are many others like Sai Pallavi, Mia George who are waiting for a right story.
With films like Bahubali and Srimanthudu being dubbed and actors like Allu Arjun already having a fan following in Kerala, an import of fresh talent can only get easier and quicker.
