Kartik Aaryan: I want to take Alia Bhatt to watch Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2!
The Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 actor chats about the spectacular success of his film and how he didn’t get tickets for his own film!
Kartik Aaryan is truly the man of the hour. After a smash hit success of Pyaar Ka Punchnama in 2011, he recreated the magic with its sequel Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 and set the cash registers ringing! The movie has garnered more than 23 crores in less than a week and is sill running in packed theatres!
In a free-wheeling chat with BollywoodLife, Kartik reveals how he has become the new age relationship expert and talks about his current dating scene! Read on.
1: What is the best reaction you received for your famous ( or rather infamous!) monologue by the industry biggies?
Well, I really don’t want to name names because I don’t want to jinx it. It’s a bit overwhelming for me. But I would do like to share that an industry big shot wrote to me that I have an impeccable comic timing. I was floored. I have to pinch myself to believe that experts are actually appreciating my work. I had only dreamt of this.
2: Which is the worst reaction you received?
It was more funny than insulting. (Chuckles) Somebody wrote to me saying, women should die after watching this film! They had written : Die women, die!
3: How many times did you rehearse for your 8 minute long monologue for the part two?
5 sleepless nights were spent getting the monologue right! I was given 5 days to prepare but had shooting throughout the day. After spending whole day at work, I went home and rehearsed in front of the mirror. There was a lot of pressure riding on me because the first monologue had gone viral and I had to better myself this time around. I could’ve easily hammed my performance this time around ,but luckily it worked out! I also recorded my performance every night and tried to surpass myself than my last gig!
4: which monologue is your favourite? The first or second?
Hey come on, you can’t make me choose like that it’s like preferring one parent over another! I will be very clichéd and I will say both! Because of the first one monologue I got noticed by masses and the second one leveraged my career.
5: Have you seen the film with the audience yet?
Yes. I have. It was out of this world sitting with public watching the film. After every punchline, people reacted. It was spot on. During the monologue they stood up and whistled. It was a fantastic feeling. In fact most of them complained that in a gusto of acknowledging one joke, they missed the next one. Therefore they want to watch the film again!
6: Kartik, are you dating someone in real life?
Well I will be honest with you, I am not. I used to but broke up!
7: Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone or Alia Bhatt – who would you take to watch Pyaar ka Punchnama 2?
I would definitely take Alia. It is my greatest wish to work with both Deepika and Katrina but it is Alia I want to take to watch PKP 2. I don’t have a reason for this but it will be definitely Alia!
8: Did women find the sexist jokes offending?
I have a lot of reactions from women across the board. But most have asked me relationship advice! My inbox is flooded with these queries!
9: Has your mom seen the film?
Oh its been my greatest dream to take my parents to watch my film! So, the first time I tried getting the tickets I could. The show was houseful. It was a greatest moment for my mom and dad.
Later, when they saw it..they couldn’t stop laughing. My mom interestingly admitted on doing a lot of things ( except for the sex related stuff!) depicted in the film.
